Mobile Opportunities: Background Studies

The first phase of the Mobile Opportunities Project focused on background research and the preparation of the corresponding background papers on regulation, market trends, price levels and regulation, the relation between gender and mobile phone use, mobile use by small and medium enterprises, and the range of mobile service offerings in the region.

The methodology applied in this phase included the analysis of information and documents obtained through collaborative work within the network as well as from websites and libraries in the region. When required, interviews were conducted and information was obtained from operators in the region.
