Argentina
A questionnaire was submitted in person to 1,400 subjects from the lowest socio-economic strata (C3, D1, D2, and E), aged between 13 and 70. Subjects were selected from a probabilistic sample of low income households of the main metropolitan areas in Argentina.Reuslts confirm a high level of adoption of mobile services at the base of the pyramid.

Brasil
The project’s main goal is to collect original data and analyze it in order to understand how the, urban, bottom of the pyramid segments of the population make use o MT. A guiding hypothesis is that MT is a useful tool for wealth generation and social network development. A user is defined as a person who made use of MT during the three months previous to the interview.

Colombia
The survey covered 800 households in Bogotá, Medellín, Villavicencio and Pasto. In each selected city, 200 interviews were applied to households of strata 1 and 2 -the poorest sectors according to official methodologies. Households of stratum 1 (lowest income) represented 51.2% of the household surveyed; and those households of stratum 2 amounted to 48.8%. The main result of this study shows that acces to mobile telephony is high and it is being generalized through the different socioeconomic aspects of the interviewed.

Jamaica
The data suggest cell phones are widely used as a tool for social networking and the opportunity exists to build on the ubiquity to market it into a business and educational tool. It is important to note that the degree of pre-paid mobile phone usage is at a very high level despite the low income socio-economic status of most respondents, and therefore augurs well for the educational and employment opportunities that can be generated.

Public telephony still represents an important access to communication, and in fact it seems to stand as a service complementary to mobile telephony.The 54% of respondents made use of mobile phones during the last month previously to the interview, while a similar percentage (53%) of mobile phone users have also used public telephony. The main reasons to use this service are its low cost and the lack of other communication options.

Peru
This is the first report of a research about mobile telephony use amog users belonging to the "base of the pyramid" in urban areas. For this reason, an emphasis is put un users at large (not only mobile users), covering sensitivity to prices and income, usage patterns, identified possible advantages and patterns of sustitution of other services, such as fixed line and public telephony.

Trinidad-Tobago
A quantitative survey of low-income communities in Trinidad and Tobago, was usedas the basis for the country study. The sample of 537 respondents out of a totalcountry population of 1,262,366, was selected using information from local studieswhich estimate that 17% of the population is poor (Kairi Consultants, 2007).Although the study examines patterns of use for fixed lines, mobile and the Internet, it focuses primarily on mobile as this technology reportedly has high levels of penetration among the poor in developing countries and has considerable potential as a vehicle for inclusion.
