Pre-paid mobiles in Peru: inefficient competition
The cost of using mobile phones in Peru is in the local press again. In a note published by the daily El Comercio Prepagos: aquí sigue nublado (Pre-paid: still cloudy in here, referring to the high cost of mobile telephony services in Peru), Roxana Barrantes is interviewed and DIRSI research is cited.

El costo de hablar por celular en el Perú es nuevamente tema de un artículo de prensa, esta vez en El Comercio. En una nota titulada Prepagos: aquí sigue nublado (en referencia al elevado gasto que implica usar un servicio de telefonía móvil en el Perú) se incluye una entrevista a Roxana Barrantes y se citan investigaciones de DIRSI.
Ministerial Forum EU-LAC on the Information Society
The forum, titled “Digital Contents for a Digital Society” is organized by the Spanish presidency of the European Union in cooperation with the European Commission and with the support of ECLAC.
The meeting aims to make a balance of public policies implemented over the past few years and discuss the needs and priorities of future digital agendas that may contribute to reduce the digital gap and promote economic growth, taking into account the characteristics of each region.

CPRafrica dará a los investigadores la oportunidad de discutir sus trabajos sobre regulación y políticas públicas para las TIC en África y en el Sur en general, ante una audiencia internacional orientada a la formulación de políticas. En la conferencia se celebrará el lanzamiento hace diez años del African Journal of Information & Communication (Revista africana de información y comunicación). Buena parte de los eminentes miembros del consejo editorial asistirán al encuentro y presentarán artículos y trabajos.

EuroCPR se organiza anualmente con el fin de contribuir de manera crítica y constructiva al desarrollo de de la Política europea para la Sociedad de la Información. La asistencia a la conferencia se ha mantenido reducida deliberadamente -máximo de 80 participantes - para favorecer la calidad por sobre la cantidad y dar lugar a mayor interacción.
